Friday, June 23, 6 pm, Dryden Theatre
In conversation with Curator-in-Charge, Lisa Hostetler, Lucinda Devlin will discuss her work on view in Sightlines

A conversation with Lucinda Devlin and curator Elaine Gustafson in occasion of the exhibition "Sightlines" at the Weatherspoon Art Museum, Greensboro, 2017

Selections from three series by photographer Lucinda Devlin (American, b. 1947) are featured in this exhibition: Pleasure Ground (1977–90), Corporal Arenas (1982–98), and The Omega Suites (1991–97).
Best known for The Omega Suites—precisely composed images of execution chambers in the United States—Devlin has devoted her career to exploring the relationship between our bodies and the spaces that they inhabit. She has concentrated in particular on interiors associated with pleasure or pain, creating photographs that draw attention to the power relationships embedded in a room’s architecture and decor.

Melanie Manchot
Dance (All Night, London)

1.7.2017, 20-4 Uhr
Dance (All Night, London) as part of Art Night 2017, Exchange Square, Broadgate, London

Melanie Manchot’s new commission Dance (All Night, London) is a collective dance performance, in collaboration with 10 dance schools from around the East End, each representing a different style of movement, from Cuban Rueda to Chinese Dance and Argentine Tango. On the night, dancers will parade through the streets of east London coming together in Exchange Square, Broadgate where they will dance alongside each other. From 10pm to 1am, the square, illuminated and transformed into a temporary stage, will be taken over by teachers from each school, offering dance lessons to the public in their chosen styles. The project encourages audiences to come and dance in the square, to experience these vibrant rhythms and learn something new. When the lessons are over the space will become an open dance floor until the early hours of the morning, with playlists and headphones available via silent disco.
